Dr. Z.S. Meharwal is the Chairman and Head of Adult Cardiac Surgery, Heart Transplantation, and the Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Program at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi. A member of the founding team of doctors at the institute, he brings with him over 30 years of experience in cardiac surgery, having performed more than 30,000 surgeries, including highly complex heart operations and Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) procedures.
He is a pioneer of many innovative cardiac operations in India and continues to contribute significantly to advancements in the field. Actively involved in teaching and training, Dr. Meharwal is the Programme Director of DNB Cardiothoracic Surgery at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute and has trained numerous cardiac surgeons in India and abroad, many of whom are now leading independent practices.
A prolific academic contributor, he has published extensively in peer-reviewed national and international journals and is a sought-after faculty member at medical conferences worldwide.
