Dr. Anil Bhan is a highly respected cardiovascular surgeon and currently serves as Chairman of Cardiac Surgery. With decades of experience, he is regarded as one of India’s leading experts in aortic and complex cardiac surgery.
An alumnus of Medical College Srinagar, where he graduated as the Best Outgoing Student and Gold Medalist, Dr. Bhan has the largest experience in aortic surgery in the country. Over the course of his career, he has successfully performed more than 15,000 cardiac and vascular surgeries, achieving outcomes comparable with leading global standards.
Dr. Bhan has played a pivotal role in expanding advanced cardiac care in India. He was instrumental in establishing major cardiac surgery programs at Puttaparthi (1992), Whitefield (2001), and Max Heart & Vascular Institute, Saket (2004). He was also part of the landmark team that carried out India’s first successful heart transplant in 1994.
In addition to his clinical excellence, Dr. Bhan is a prolific innovator, having designed and developed over 50 surgical instruments that have contributed significantly to advancements in cardiac surgery.
